About

Venetian Waters by Rosie Scott

Venetian Water

“Her paintings carry us with them on voyages of discovery – to the far distant lands of the imagination aboard treasure laden galleons ploughing through the waves or light-as air skiffs skimming the foam. Rosie gathers jewel like points of colour and floats them in seas of aquamarine and azure, these images entrance and unfold us – precious cargo or our very own. It was natural for Rosie’s water journeys to lead her to Venice – the ancient sea trading port of northern Italy. Here the land itself is almost wet, the city is utterly saturated, each palazzo has its own high water mark. Here where the mists drape the lagoon and footsteps echo down deserted calle, Rosie captures the city’s mystery and magic. Her latest Venetian paintings not only portray the opulence and sensuality of the city’s past but also its present day intrigue and enchantment. We are lucky to have her as our navigator and guide.”

Biography

Rosie Scott was born in Wiltshire, and her early years were spent in Bath, it continued to be the centre of family life while her grandmother was alive. Rosie’s influential grandmother was the first person to encourage her to draw, her first recollection of drawing was, in the Pump Rooms, with her grandmothers daily ritual of coffee and drinking the “waters”.

After Bath, followed two years in Canada, then many years spent in Cornwall, before her family again returned to the Bath area. Art School meant moving on again, and for many years Rosie exhibited and taught in London where Rosie has continued to exhibit ever since, including exhibiting continuously in the South West, where she now lives,  her work is in collections worldwide.
